Chateau
Dear food writers and food lovers,

You are invited to join us for the October 1-8, 2006 Food Writers’ Retreat in Burgundy during grape harvest.

Vaux le Vicompte gardenYou may have visited many chateaux, but when is the last time you lived in a château? With a dozen inspired colleagues? Imagine…sitting in a 17th century salon while writing in your casual clothes. Consider… a quiet autumn walk in the castle gardens. Place yourself …Sens marketin the elegant dining room for lively dinners and wine from the renowned region of Burgundy. Of course, you’re saying yes!

The Burgundy retreat will be our fourth gathering of creative food lovers, most of whom are food writers. It is open to twelve attendees, including food loving spouses/friends. Over the years, we have seen extraordinary successes unfoldWindow View during the days that we share, away from the busy lives that often pull us from the true joy of writing with inspiration.

This retreat offers the beauties and flavors of the French countryside and, as always, our key focus is on food writing. We scribes, passionate about “les gloires de la table,” find that we burst with ideas and creativity throughout the week’s activities. Writing coachesBlue Shutters Don Fry and Toni Allegra encourage writers to new heights. Count on one-on-one, as well as group coaching, regarding your writing goals and specific work in progress. You’ll return home with superb knowledge and new friendships shared with colleagues during the week. Culinary excursions will include: dinner at the two-starred restaurant, La Madeline, lunch at La Lucarne, owned by Deruta PotteryLeslie Caron, a visit to a wine maker in Chablis, bread making in a 200-year old oven, three hands-on cooking meals, local cheeses and wines and much more.

Weave in the singing, the laughter and the buoyant spirit known for this retreat and you’ll know that this might be the week that changes your passion for all things French, for yourBasket-weaving in Anghiari writing….for your life! We look forward to sharing this Retreat week with you.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

A bientôt!
